My Story

Born in the Manning Valley, nationally recognized Australian based visual artist, Jenna Lea Ryan, has been making an impression across the art scene since leaving school in her mid-teens with an unorthodox temperament to establish her craft. Quickly recognized was her ability to capture an intangible presence in her subject with a great gentleness. The combination of unconventional mediums and truthful renditions that are apparent in Jenna’s work have become stimulating spaces for conversations and challenge the confines of the traditional art processes.

Having briefly lived in the vibrant and spirited city of Melbourne for 12 months, Jenna was exposed to a world of juxtaposed lifestyles. This exposure allowed Jenna to formulate a new perspective on how to bring purpose and connect people with her art.

“My main concern is to keep a parallel approach between both representational and lyrical to preserve the story that already exists beneath the surface of a subject. The canvas becomes a refuge for an abundance of delicate marks that hold the information of subject in a way that allows the viewer to enter it rather than just view it, similar to how a novelist invites the reader in with an ocean of words that saturate their pages.”

Jenna has seen some of her largest scaled work reach international exposure on social media platforms. One of her most memorable achievements is the showcasing of her gym mural of Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson by Johnson himself, on his very own Instagram account.

Jenna has recently taken the plunge into transitioning to the commercial art sector. However, she continues to make the time for her passion, which is working on her signature portrait pieces.
